The coolest accommodations in Tokyo
Tokyo offers a wide choice when it comes to accommodation. From japanese style ryokan or minshuku to western style business hotel or luxury hotel, it’s easy to find the perfect place depending on the location and budget. The most adventurers travelers can try one of the many capsule hotels, temple lodgings, love hotels or even spend a night in a manga cafe. But today I am going to share my findings of unique, conceptual and coolest accommodations in Tokyo.
Super Mario Themed Airbnb
If you are a Super Mario fan, this is a must-stay place in Tokyo!
This airbnb apartment is one of a kind and is located at only 3 minutes from Tokyo’s popular Shibuya ward.
The host Parker has converted a one bedroom Tokyo apartment into a floor-to-ceiling Mario masterpiece. From the toadstool-print sheets/curtains to the custom-made fan art, this cozy Japanese apartment also features an entertainment system compatible with retro gaming systems and all Super Mario titles. The apartment’s living room, kitchen, laundry room, toilet, shower and bedroom all play along with the classic Nintendo mascot theme.
As the Airbnb listing mentions in its description, “This is not a cheap, second-hand apartment made for cynical reasons. It’s a piece of art from the heart.” If Parker’s loving devotion wasn’t evident enough, he says “I made a lot of the items you see by hand, and painted quite a few too.”
The apartment features one Princess Peach-themed bedroom with a brand new $3,500 Tempur mattress and pillows (the same brand NASA uses) ! There is also a couch that converts into a second bed, along with amenities like a kitchen, bathroom/shower, and WiFi. The Yoshi bathroom is so cute-!
The price for this 2 bed/1 bath 90s gamer’s paradise starts at $77 per night
